Traveling from Ontario to North Vancouver BC

Hello all, My family & I are moving to N. Vancouver from Ontario in July 2014. I have 5 children which vary in age from 5-18.

We will be travelling by car, and bringing a large 20' moving truck.

We would very much like to make it a fun family trip, for all. So would like to see some sights along the way, some fun attractions, eat great food, see some historical sights and possibly camp (real camping style with tents) along the way, and stay at hotels too.

Obviously we cannot see it all, just thought of places and things to stop and see, and places to possibly eat & stay, along the way would be great, an help on this would be greatly appreciated. We are in no rush but do not want to spend 3 weeks either.

We have driven from Ontario to BC 4 times already with our kids, but never stopped to see anything.

Do you want to go through the US or totally through Canada?

You may want to post your question on the Road Trip forum as well, tripadvisor.ca/ShowForum-g1-i12567-Road_Trip…

For Saskatchewan, I suggest the RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina, the Tunnels of Moose Jaw and the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw.

From Medicine Hat you could take the southern route with one of the stops Osoyoos to do water sports and check out the summer vacations opportunities for when you live in North Van. http://goo.gl/maps/RJdgd

I would suggest that you pick up a Parks Canada family pass and decide to make it a trip about visting your national parks and historic sights along the way. As a family, you can spend some time on the national parks website and check out the possible parks and heritage sites you might visit in the different provinces. This would provide you with a focus for your planning and help you to start to focus in on what you might want to stop and do along the way.

Do you have your own equipment for camping? I assume you are not looking for places that provide the gear? Again, the national parks would be a great place for that.
