If so then look at Logan lake area for the first and Revelstoke for the second...another road trip option would be Whistler to Vernon then Vernon to Nakusp then up Arrow Lakes to Revelstoke.
Hwy 6 from Vernon to Nakusp is really scenic..narrow, twisty, not too many tourists..then ferry ( free) across lake then drive up to Nakusp.
Sorry...clarification...we are considering breaking up long days of driving by looking to stay in-between Whistler and Salmon Arm and then between Salmon Arm and Lake Louise area. Our itinerary permits some flexibility for this, if we choose to do it. 5 hour travel days aren't that bad if you stop occasionally, however. What is the daylight situation like in late April? Thanks
By late April you'll have at least 14-15 hours of daylight..plus we have long twilights here.
a good website you might want to check is www.drivebc.ca
go to other links bottom left then distance calculator...not as sophisticated as google maps etc but very reliable re: actual drive times here through the mountains etc. I have driven all the roads you're looking at many times and have found this website to be just about bang on with driving times.Edited: 22 March 2014, 20:19
