Booking with Greyhound

Hi there

I want to travel from Nanaimo to Port Hardy in August by Greyhound bus. Problem is the web site wont accept UK credit cards, neither will the office in Canada when you call. I'm really stressing as I know there's only one bus a day and we have to make our connection to get our ferry to Prince Rupert (booked and paid for). Any ideas how to book or reserve Greyhound tickets in BC from the UK? As I say tried the web and calling to no avail.

Hope someone can help!

Thank you

I was shocked to read your post. I went to Greyhound's website and, lo and behold, you do indeed need to have a Canadian or American address to pay by credit card.

I did an Internet search for other scheduled bus services, but did not find one. I found Laidlaw, but it seems to be an affiliate of Greyhound. I also found Gray Line, but it seems to offer a charter bus service to Port Hardy rather than a scheduled bus service -- as far as I can tell from its website.

Well, let me think ...... Okay, here's a suggested solution .......

As soon as possible after you arrive in Canada, go to the Greyhound Station in your arrival city and purchase a ticket for your desired journey, on the desired date, with cash.

From your previous posts I see you'll be going to Vancouver and Tofino, at a minimum, so you'll have several days in Canada before you do the journey from Nanaimo to Port Hardy.

I'm sure that's far enough in advance that you can be confident of getting a spot on the Greyhound bus on the date you want.

Hope that helps.

As far as I understand, Greyhound has a policy of always having a seat available so you will be able to get from Nanaimo to Port Hardy when you would like. I would suggest emailing Greyhound and asking about this policy.

Hope you enjoy your time in Nanaimo. Try to get to Newcastle Island and the Dinghy Dock Pub. Memorable Nanaimo spots.
