Wineries Nanaimo

Hi,

We are a group of 7 visiting Nanaimo off a cruiseship Middle May. We are thinking of renting a minivan to visit some wineries, would be grateful for some recommendations, please?

Our cruise ship does not depart Nanaimo till late at night, but we will have to return the minivan to the car rental...

Many Thanks

Welcome to the Nanaimo Forum Nomad173,

There is indeed a winery in Nanaimo; Millstone Winery. It is located about 10 minutes away from the Cruise Ship Terminal. More information at http://millstonewinery.ca/

You could also combine a visit to Millstone with a drive to the Cowichan Valley to visit the many wineries and cidery in that area. A touring guide is available at http://wines.cowichan.net/

To give you a taste of the Nanaimo area have a look at one of the City's promotional videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCMU-_TVkEA

Enjoy your visit to Nanaimo and region.

There is another company making wine in Nanaimo but it sounds very much like a basement operation.

There's much more choice on offer in the Cowichan Valley to the south and it's a short easy scenic drive

San Salmon and BuccaneerDave,

Thank you for your replies...I just had a quick look at both Milestone and Noblebeast.... just love Gewurtztraminers (although it can be quite difficult to find a decent one) and Pinot Noirs...so has put both forward to the group.... will look at the Cowichan website tonight...

Many thanks
