Prince Rupert - May 13 - 4pm-10pm

Arriving on the Norwegian Star - we are six ladies and three are seniors over 60. Is there anything safe to do in the evenings? The senior ladies are not able to walk great distances.

The early evening you can probably head over and see the Museum of Northern BC. Later in the evening there is a movie theater where you can see the latest Hollywood flicks.

The cruise ship docks right beside the street so it's easy walking to the Museum, which is a MUST and other shops and eateries. No need to walk very far at all. And it's all flat right there, unless you venture inland a bit but that's not necessary either.

One of the outstanding visitor attractions is the museum. Unfortunately, the winter hours in effect at the time of your visit have it closing at 5pm. I have researched this as we are on the star right after you.

My suggestion, as the museum has an outstanding collection of artifacts, is to take the shore excursion which has evidently contracted with the museum to open for the cruisers. Considering the mobility limits of your party, the songs and stories offering would probably be the best best. The cost is $25 pp which includes museum admission. There is an expanded version of the above (21/2 hours) for $49pp which includes a potlatch. Hope this helps. You can reserve you place for these online at the cruise website.

The recommendation to take the shore excursion that includes the museum event is a good one. Not to be contrary, but it is NOT a flat walk from the cruise ship terminal to the museum - quite the opposite - so your group would need some form of transport. It IS a flat walk from the cruise ship terminal around the area known as Cow Bay.
