Affordable lodging with sea view/ best ferry?

Planning to spend 1 or 2 nights in May - either on way to Tofino or on way back to Victoria. Looking for clean and affordable with ocean view - no frills is fine. Also notice there seem to be 2 ferry possibilities - recommendations on best appreciated.

If you are coming from Tofino the best ferry to get on Salt Spring would be the Crofton ferry then off at Fulford. Would highly recommend at least two nights as there is so much to see and do on the island.

If you are going to Tofino, you could go to Saltspring from Victoria and then go from Saltspring to Crofton when you leave.

Thanks - did manage to book one night at the Salt Spring Harbour House Hotel - good to deal with on phone and reasonable rate and reviews on here OK. Moved trip to April as rates for everything on Island seem lower until end of April and Air Canada seat sale good until then too. Also received other advice to take ferry from Victoria to Saltspring and then other ferry on way to Tofino.

Wonder if any suggestions on what to see/visit on Salt Spring given will likely only have a few hours in afternoon? More interested in natural scenery than shopping altho' if I were going to be there on a Saturday would check out the Ganges market. Also affordable good food restaurant near Hotel - guess Ganges area - recommendation appreciated.

If you're looking for pleasant country drives to great view sites, don't miss Mount Maxwell provincial park (fabulous vista across the Fulford Valley across the Gulf Islands and beyond), and my favourite Ruckle Park on the south end of the island (storybook farmstead and lightly developed waterfront park with nice easy hikes and dramatic rocky shores). Good restaurants to try in Ganges: Moby's Marine Pub, Calvin's, Oystercatcher, House Piccolo. Have fun!

Avoca

The other ferry is Vesuvius to Crofton

I second the other post Re; Ruckle Park

There is a grocery store in Ganges called Thrifty Foods with a great deli and eat in the park, beach, etc.
