Hotel near Cruise Lines

We are going on a Princess Cruise to Alaska in August. What is a nice hotel that is close to where the ships board?

Hi SurfSeeker,

There are two hotels that are located right at the cruise ship terminal; The Fairmont Waterfront and the Pan Pacific Hotel. Not sure what your budget is, but both are really nice hotels. They are quite expensive though. Hope this helps a bit!

Have fun on your cruise!

be sure to check which cruise terminal you are leaving from some leave from Ballantyne Pier.. no great hotels there as is in industrial area.. about 10 minute cab ride from hotels.. lots of hotels near Canada Place terminal or many on Robson street 5 minute cab ride away..

The Fairmont Waterfront is better than the Pan Pacific with nicer, more spacious rooms but, is a tiny bit farther away than the Pan Pacific which is right in the port (Canada Place). www.fairmont.com

How close do you want to be? How many nights are you staying? The reason why I ask is that there are a few hotels (the Fairmont Waterfront, the Pan Pacific, the Club Intrawest Vancouver, the Terminall City Club, the Delta Suites Vancouver) which are all a stones throw away from the terminal...

... but the terminal is about a 10-15 minute walk away from the more interesting parts of downtown. Does this matter at all to you? Do you want to be able to walk with all your luggage a block down the road the next morning to your cruise? Or would you be willing to stay a bit futher aka: a 5 minute taxi ride, further away from the terminal? If you're willing to expand the radius to a 5 minute taxi ride away from the terminal, then your hotel choices expands tenfold, and you start finding hotels in more interesting districts of downtown like Yaletown and the West End.

Whether or not you'd be interested in staying in more interesting parts of downtown depends on whether or not you care to explore Vancouver, or whether you're just using Vancouver as a departure point, but have no interest in exploring elsewhere.

Also, I have to laugh at the comment that the Fairmont Waterfront puts you further from the cruise ship terminal. It's basically the hotel directly across the street from the Canada Place terminal. We're talking a difference of maybe 20 seconds. In fact, there's an underground tunnel connecting the Fairmont Waterfront to the Pan Pacific/Canada Place cruise ship terminal.
