we're thinking of coming up to Vancouver around the Victoria Day holiday. i was wondering if the city gets busy at that time. is there more congestion? do prices go up? any info is appreciated.

thanks.

Victoria Day is a long weekend and generally represents the kick-off to summer, so campgrounds and ferries to Vancouver Island will be very, very busy. Other than that, I can't say prices would be any higher. The cruise ship season starts at the beginning of May, so hotel prices will already be high. Most locals will trying to get out of the city, so you probably won't notice any crazy masses downtown (other than the typical influx of cruise ship passengers around Gastown and Robson Street).

If you pospone a week and go during the US long weekend, the same thing. Ferries are busy as is the border.
