I'd be surprised if you'd find anyone willing to do it that way-the drop charge for a car is generally around $250 I can't imagine what an RV would cost one way.

One tip-there are **a lot** of RV dealers in/around Nanaimo and I'd start my search there, it's not that far back down to Victoria and you might save a lot.

There's a lot more to your post I'll try to answer later.

OK now that the Golden Hour is here in the Salmon household, the quesadilla has been eaten and the fruit juice is flowing......

Two standard points

1-is it possible for you to fly into Vancouver and out of Calgary? That would save some backtracking if you stick with your itinerary as is.

Some logistical sticking points with your original itinerary-the train to Jasper only runs a few days a week and the Prince Rupert area is another wonderland of outdoor opportunity it would be a shame to just 'blow through town' without having a look around.

2-Renting an RV in Vancouver and doing a large Circle Trip East to the Rockies and then West from Jasper to Williams Lake then West on Highway 20 to Bella Coola then take the Coast Discovery Ferry south to Port Hardy.

Leaving aside the wonderful Chilcotin country-Cowboy Central-and the amazing scenery/wildlife watching opportunities around Bella Coola you could dive the worlds class God's Pocket just North of Port Hardy.I haven't dived there but have fished extensively from a small boat and the intertidal life is breathtaking.

Kayaking is a given almost anywhere on the coast in BC so much to choose from.

I also like the idea of doing a loop that takes you out to the Rockies and then back to the Discovery Coast ferry and then down island. Taking an RV on the ferries is very expensive. You may want to compare the real costs of taking an RV (additional fuel costs and campsite fees) vs. "fixed roof" accommodations (hotel/motel). Many people find that once they work it all out, the RV experience is no cheaper.

I don't know if you're interested in an escorted tour, but I have just booked myself on this (June departure) which seems to cover the ground you've mentioned

I think you are on the way to planning a wonderful trip.

A few suggestions:

- consider doing some sea/ocean kayaking. The kayaking in Tofino is amazing - it is a great to get close marine life. Not only is the kayaking itself great in Tofino but the destinations are worldclass (Meares Island, Hot Springs Cove)

- instead of doing kayaking on a lake/river do a river rafting trip. Overnight trips are available. Kumsheen Rafting Company in Lytton (the Fraser Canyon Hwy #1) offers some great overnight trips. This location would work for you depending if you do come back to Vancouver and the route you choose. But there are numerous overnight rafting trips around BC

- this is an excellent books with easy hikes/walks in the rockies: amazon.com/Walks-Canadian-Rockies-Altitude-S… We did many of the Jasper walks on a recent trip to Jasper. Though easy they are not short on eye candy.

- one of your biggest challenges is figuring out drop off and pick-up of vehicles. Sorry I can't offer much help here but others might be able to
