Trip to Vancouver with 17 year old daughter

Hi,

I'm spending 2 or 3 days in Vancouver with my daughter. Does anyone have any ideas how I can entertain her? She would possibly like to do a short hike or some live music event. She is not a particularly big shopper. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mike

Here are some ideas:

Stanley Park - trails, seawall and Aquarium

Granville Island - including the harbour ferries

Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

Deep Cove - kayaking (rental)

This site has a lot of family type choices. Don't be fooled by the kid's style, lot of good stuff here

If you're coming the last two weeks of August, there's the PNE and Playland, which is on the PNE grounds. Playland is open from June - ?

As to live music or theatre, we would need to know when you will be coming.

It really depends when you are coming, the events are constantly changing as Summer nears.

Grouse Mountain and Cypress Mountain also have some nice hiking trails. Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. The Suspension Bridge on Capilano Road in North Vancouver. The others suggested previously are also excellent ideas.

Also check the Georgia Straight for music/ concert listings.

.... also you don't have to go all the way to Deep Cove for kayaking.. although it's wonderful out there and definitely worth it fi you have the time.. ..you can also kayak right in False Creek next to Granville Island.

Also if you're coming in late July there may be fireworks...

My personal destination of choice is Capilano River Regional Park

Lynn Canyon is also really nice.

I really enjoy taking the day trip over to Bowen Island on the ferries.

Granville Island and the pedestrian ferries are a treat on a sunny day.

Rent bikes and ride around Stanley Park.
