Traveling from Lake Louise to Vancouver

We want to travel from Lake Louise to Vancouver in one day in August. Is it possible to start in the morning (8.30 am) and to arrive at Vancouver in the evening (driving normally with only short stops)?

Hi dandekel;

Vancouver is approx. 488 miles / 785 km from Lake Louise. Non-stop driving would take about 9.5 hours.

Rushing along like that, you will miss all the great sights along the way.

Best Regards

yes it's possible. Longish day though (to keep it as short as possible take the Coquihalla, not the Fraser Canyon) & the driving can get tiring - would recommend that you spell each other ie take turns driving. When you reach Hope & onward you will need to be extra careful as the sun is getting lower & will be right in your face; also there are often traffic backups and you might get stuck in gridlock for a bit, particularly around 200th/172nd/Port Mann Bridge.....

It's possible, but it would likely be your saddest experience in BC.

Are you heading for the airport? Cut off at Langley for Hwy 10 and then 99.
