Victoria or Whistler

We have a very limited time in Vancouver and woud like to find out which one is worth going to. Victoria Island (Butchart Garden) or Whistler? We arriving Vancouver around 2 pm on Sunday 9/12. We plan to go around Vancouver that afternoon and the following day to either the above destination. Our flight coming back to LA is 6:00pm on 9/14 which is a Tuesday so we have half a day to still go around the city. Any suggestions to maximize our stay and be able to see more attractions?.

You won't want to go to Victoria Island which is up above the Arctic Circle. You will want to be thinking about Vancouver Island. Getting to Butchart Gardens on Vancouver island will take you about 3.5 hours one way via car/ferry/car or bus/ferry/bus.

Getting to Whistler on the other hand will take about 2 hours driving.

For your half day, you could bike around Stanley Park and all the way along English Bay to the foot of Thurlow, take the Aquabus (handles bicycles) over to Granville Island and have a couple of hours there.

we were in Victoria in June - just loved it. A drink at the Empress hotel - (just to get to see the decor inside) a local bus will take you to the Butchart gardens for $1.50

Enjoyed Whistler - but is just another ski resort. The scenery on the way up to Whistler is beautiful.

My vote is victoria

have fun

I would say Victoria, but then you have to deal with the long ferry ride back and forth (unless you want to spend a little extra and take a sea plane?) it's a long journey for just a day. Whistler on the other hand is a two hour drive.

Victoria, though unless you go by float plane it's a long day.
