Vancouver stay: family of 4, Aug 10-17, NEED help!

We are driving up to Vancouver from Sacramento and will be staying in Vancouver from August 10-17. This is a last minute family trip.

I am 5 months pregnant and am traveling with my husband and kids, ages 10 and 14. We have traveled extensively together as a group all over the world, yet have never been to Canada. We are very excited for this adventure!

Money is tighter than it has been in the past. We are used to staying at Starwood brand hotels (like Westin). We need to find deals wherever possible so are looking for somewhere from hopefully no more than $100-130 CAD per night for the 4 of us. We need 2 double beds, or a King and a fold-out couch or the like. Of course if you can recommend somewhere that will cost not too much more but will suit our needs, we will consider!

We do not have ANY idea which area in Vancouver to look to stay! We also have no information on Vancouver, either, but I will scour these forums :)

We love adventure and nature, and museums, and walking, and places-which-are-a-must-see.. we are open to ALL suggestions!

If you know of good hotel accommodations which are not too loud, are clean, have good deals/packages/benefits, etc.. please chime in. I'd appreciate any input and can answer any follow-up questions as to our preferences.

This will be our last vacation as a family with just the two kids before the baby comes and changes our travel destination choices. We'd like to have a special visit, yet economical as possible.

Thank you so much ahead of time.

Have a look at these downtown hotels. But you will find o/n parking in Vancouver to be on the high side. Still it's the best location as you can walk or bus to pretty much everything.

Rosedale on Robson

Times Square Suites

Rosellen Suites

Robson Suites

Sunset Inn and Suites

Cascadia Hotel and Suites

Look up to the top right of the Vancouver forum under Top Questions for lots of info to get you started.

And have a look at this family oriented site: www.findfamilyfun.

In particular look at Robson suites as a I believe they offer free parking..once in Vancouver you will not need your car as it's compact, walkable and has excellent transit. It's a bit over your budget but has a kitchen so you can save on food by doing own breakfasts etc. As Mufti has mentioned you will want to stay downtown..all the hotels mentioned by Mufti are in good location. Robson street is a good location..a main east west artery (but not a high speed street)

Try Robson Suites, you will not be disapointed, close to everything and great prices. I think they have a deal on now too where you get a couple nights free or something like that? Check them at www.robsonsuitesvancouver.com maybe give them a call

Also, Viva Suites has some great suites as well located on the opposite end of downtown but still close to it all.

- Mum's Gelato on Denman Street (located near bike rentals for Stanley park).

- Carumba in Whistler

- there are lots of inexpensive Sushi/asian noodle restaurants in downtown vancouver.
