No room at the Inn

Hi

We have been planning a four week trip through US and Canada and onto last details. Just discovered a lack of availability of accommodation in Vancouver due to a conference and cruise season being in full swing. We need accommodation for two nights for two couples and a single from 1 June to 3rd June before boarding our cruise. Other than the city centre where should we look next: we are arriving on the train from Seattle, plan a day trip to Vancouver Island on the Thursday before boarding our cruise on the Friday. Just not sure of where to look outside Downtown Vancouver. Really appreciate your suggestions. thank you

Hotels in North Vancouver might be a possibility. But your needs are a bit more complex than usual so I would suggest you do some one stop shopping by calling the Tourism Vancouver Office where you can get some help finding something. You might be asked if you would be willing to stay at different properties.

It's not a toll free line, but staff would be able to find you something:

1-604-966-3260

Or you could contact them by email:

tourismvancouver.com/visitors/accommodation/

Regarding the day trip to "Vancouver Island." That would take 4 hours one way by land/ferry and would be pretty much restricted to the city of Victoria. You could fly by seaplane on Harbour Air, a journey of about 35 minutes.

There is also hotels in Richmond and Burnaby. As long as it's near the train line the ride into town would only be 20-30 minutes. Also a few hotels on Broadway near Cambie and on the east side of Vancouver.

Take a look at the River Rock hotel in Richmond. It's a casino, but has rooms at $160 or less if you get a package. It's right on the Canada Line so an easy trip to downtown from which you can tour and see the sights.

Thank you all so much. As exciting as its been organising this adventure of a lifetime it has been a little frustrating at times but TA always comes through. Have spent some time scouring forums and FAQ's - its been an invaluable tool. Have a great day.
