Amtrak station to Best Western on Drake

What is it like to take the SkyTrain from the Amtrak station to the Best Western Hotel on Drake?

Pretty easy and the way to arrive and depart?

Also...if my Amtrak departure from Vancouver at 5:45pm on a Saturady....how soon do I need to get to the Amtrak station and how far in advance do I take the SkyTrain?

Thanks.

You can't get there directly from the skytrain. It will involve taking the train and then a bus. If your luggage isn't too heavy or bulky then it's fine on public transit. Take the skytrain towards downtown and get off at Granville Station. Take any southbound bus (the mountains are north) on Granville and get off at Drake. You can also take the C21 bus at the train station, but you have to walk a few blocks to get to the hotel. Cost is $2.50 per person and takes 10-20 minutes.

A taxi will take 10-15 minutes and cost $10-$15.

Translink has issued an update for their bus service along Granville St. Effective June 24 - Sept 5 on weekends (Fri 9 pm to Sundays/holidays, and all day July 15), all busses using Granville St. will instead use Howe (southbound) or Seymour (northbound.) This allows Granville St to be turned over to pedestrians on weekends.

Have a look at the following map and transit routes. There are 3 ways on transit to get to the BW on Drake.

On one of the special days mentioned above: The skytrain (either 999 or 996) from Pacific Central Station to Granville Station and then either bus 4 or bus 10. From Granville Station, you would walk west on Dunsmuir to Howe for the 4/10 bus stop. Then you would get off at Howe and Davie and walk 2 blocks to the BW.

On days other than these special days, follow the transit route map below. The 4 and 10 would go right up Granville.

The 3rd way, if you click on it, is via the C21 bus. This bus stop is out the front door of the PCS and down to the left, about 150 meters, almost to Terminal Ave. It will take you to Pacific Blvd and Richards, from where you would have to walk about 3 blocks.

To return to Pacific Central Station, you need to be there about an hour ahead of departure to clear US pre-clearance and security. You can take the reverse route for the C21 bus (C=Community bus BTW, kind of like a 24 passenger tour bus) or if it's a Saturday before Sept 5th, you can take a 4 or 10 on Seymour to Dunsmuir and reverse the process. Allow 30 min from hotel to PCS.

You can adjust the date and time on the google transit settings to suit your days.

Out of curiosity. If heading to the Amtrak station from Yaletown. Does the Davie sky train station get you to the Amtrak station by getting passengers to the main street station where there is a short walk?

No that won't work directly.

You could take the C23 bus from eastbound on Davie @ Pacific to the closest corner to Pacific Central Station and walk a couple of minutes - 13 minutes.

You could take Canada Line from Yaletown/Roundhouse Station down to Waterfront Station and transfer to the Skytrain line to Main St. Station, then walk a couple of minutes to PCS - 15 minutes.

C23 runs every 10 minutes during the day.
