Smoking Ban?

Did Vancouver ban smoking cigarettes in all outdoor areas as well as indoor areas? I recently read a news article from back in Sept that proposed banning smoking cigarettes in public outdoor places such parks and beaches? Can anyone who lives or has recently been there elborate on this topic for me?

Thanks!

The above recent thread is about bonfires on the beach, but there is good info on smoking cigarettes as well. Remember that we have about 4 jurisdictions around here. Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond. More, but those may be the ones that concern you. Each one of them will have their own bylaws in place about smoking.

Have a look at Section 2 of the above bylaw document for the City of Vancouver.

And because parks is in the jurisdiction of the Parks Board:

Thank you for the information Muftimix, it was very helpful.

Sam Salmon....it shows you are a Destination Expert. I think you should reconsider being a Destination Expert since all you can do it give out a nasty attitude rather than help answer the question. Remember not EVERYONE has been to Vancouver nor knows about it. Sad and pitiful is the response you gave. Thanks Destination Expert.

Yes, there is a bylaw. But, like most bylaws here in Vancouver, they are not enforced.

Gatopaja has a point; nonetheless, the passions that surround smoking bring out the latent Fascist in some people---note the number of "Removed" posts above. Whether bylaws are enforced or not, if smokers use some common sense by ensuring smoke does not drift in doors and windows, most non-smokers will cut them some slack.
