Car hire

Are all cars for hire automatic transmission in Vancouver? All the web sites seem to have only automatic cars available.

Yes-automatic transmissions are much easier to drive and more importantly maintain.

Standards are relatively rare even on new cars.

As a forever standard shift driver, I always activate my left foot for the clutch on a rental car only to find empty space! It takes just a few uses to make the switch. Right foot gas, right foot brake, left foot takes retirement. It's going back to standard shift that I find the most off putting. Got so used to that retired left foot, I would forget to let the clutch out at first. The other thing too on an automatic is the parking brake. It won't be a lever in center car, but will be set by foot closer to the driver's door.
