Hotel Room Taxes/Fees?

Can someone please explain the following two additional charges on my hotel reservation?

HST and DMF...? Of course, there is also a room tax.

Are these standard for Vancouver or just a way to pad the bill?

The hotel tax totals14% in most areas and inclusive of HST. Any other charges are added by whatever booking agent you use.

Hello,

Thank you for your speedy reply. I am really not interested in researching these taxes, added fees; I just want to know if they are standard with all hotel reservations or am I being ripped off? Thank you.

They are standard with all hotel reservations. Whether you are being ripped off or not is another question :-).

Note that each town in BC does have varying hotel taxes. HST is standard and then there are additional, allowable, taxes created by a community and legislated into collection via the Provinicial Government.
