Mobile phone

I'm heading to Vancouver from Texas for a week. I would like to have a mobile phone for emergencies, and for potential business use while I'm there, and my wife will have to get on a one hour conference call while we're there. My charges to use my Verizon phone are $0.69 per minute.

I'm thinking of buying a prepaid phone when I get there. Any recommendations? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

you'd be much better to Call Verizon and ask the m to add Canada. They will convert your current plan to add Canada. Its costs $20 more a month however you use your existing minutes. When you get home you drop Canada.

I do this all summer with Verizon however some cust svc people may not be familiar with the plan but its much cheaper than using a Cdn phone.

a new prepaid phone + activation(if any) + time credit will cost a lot more than $20

Thank you. Just called Verizon and got it added. Another $5 got me data while I'm there.

you need to ask Verizon what your "roaming" charges will be...mobile phone companies like raping their customers for crap like that. Best bet, is to get a "Canada Plan" or the like from Verizon. If not get a pre-paid card or pre paid phone. I have real life examples of $30,000/month in roaming charges...
