What is the best way to get to Grouse Mountain from the Waterford and should reservations be made far in advance for the Observatory?

I presume you will not have a car? Are you Ok with using the bus? Or do you prefer a taxi or other private transfer?

Late October. Just make sure it's a very clear day/evening with no clouds covering the top of Grouse. If you go up there when it's overcast you will not be able to see through those clouds down to the city. Late October is a dodgy time to be counting on clear skies around here.

Walk over to Granville St and take #50 Waterfront bus or any other bus that goes to Waterfront Station. #7, #10. Transfer to the Seabus over to Lonsdale Quay. Transfer to the #236 Grouse Mountain bus. That bus takes you to the parking lot where you catch the gondola up the mountain. Total time would be about an hour. You will need $3.75 or $2.50 exact change in coins, depending if you travel before 6h30 pm or after.

Taxi is close to $60 each way. The hotel concierge can book the Observatory and a few days in advance would be prudent, but as stated, if it is in the clouds you will see nothing.

Its less than $60 to get a taxi from Coquitlam to the airport, so $60 from downtown to Grouse Mtn seems way out of line. Are you sure about that?

If you are going to take the Seabus ie public transit as suggested by Mufti, just walk the whole way from the Wedgwood to Waterfront Station. If you take the bus as suggested by Mufti, you will save yourself maybe only 5 blocks of walking - it's faster to walk the whole way. and walking is a great way to see the city. Ah the Wedgwood - my favourite place for lunch when in the city on business!
