4 days and 3 nights in Vancouver in August

We are coming off of a ship early on August 5th and leave late on a red eye on the 8th ... The more I read the more confused I am as to where to stay.. We'll need our hotel to hold our luggage on the day of arrival until we can check in and on the day we check out until we need to leave for the airport.... We probably want to spend in the $150 range for something nice.. We are a middle age couple from NYC and won't have a car. Would like to be walking distance to nightlife, restaurants, walk-able neighborhoods. We aren't shoppers so access to shops is not a priority.

I know this is somewhat vague ... but am appreciative of anyone in the know.

Welcome to the forum rachelfran ~

You will want to stay in the downtown of Vancouver: downtown core, the West End or Yaletown. Anything in this area is in the middle of things.

In the summer, it might be difficult to meet that budget. The 3* Blue Horizon which would fit your stated needs comes in about $170 before taxes. Others you might have a look at are: Times Square Suites Coast Coal Harbour, Coast Plaza Hotel, Sandman Suites on Davie, Executive Vintage Park. You would have to check with the hotel about holding your luggage.

$150 in Vancouver buys the plainest place you could imagine-either you go on Expedia or Hotwire and scoop a deal (unlikely @ that time) or lower your expectations.

Any place on the downtown peninsula will do as it's a small place.

There's nothing to be confused about. :) If you're without a car, you'll want to stay anywhere downtown. Downtown is tiny, as SamSalmon mentioned - there are different neighbourhoods/districts within downtown, but it's all walkable - it's like a mini Manhattan in the way that there are hundreds of restaurants, apartment/condo towers, hotels, shops, parks... but there are also beaches and waterfront walkways. It's just a matter of finding a hotel downtown to match your budget. Like Manhattan, Vancouver is expensive and $150 won't go far in the height of peak tourist season... so going with any downtown hotel via Expedia/Hotwire does sound like sound advice.

No need for a car in downtown. Here is a map http://www.6717000.com/skycorp/vancouver.html so you can see how compact downtown Vancouver is and where all the different areas are.

There are also free buses that go up to Capilano and Grosse Mountain from a few places downtown.

You could try the Delta Hotel https://www.deltahotels.com/hotel_search/map

they might be in your range.
