Which place to stay-Greenbrier, Riviera Hotel or Landis?

Hi,

We are looking for budget accommodation with some kitchen facilities and laundry facilities for our family of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids 2 yr and 5yr) and with some suggestions from tripadvisor, have found 3 properties that fit our budget. Will be staying about 4 nights. Just wonder if someone can suggest which may suit us better? We just need a clean place, quite central & close to public transport for sightseeing and be walking distance to some cafe/restaurants. Hoping to go Stanley Park, aquarium, sea wall, Chinatown and maybe casino if easy to get to.

Greenbrier Hotel, Robson St

Riviera Hotel, Robson St

Landis Hotel & Suites, Hornby St

Another one we found was Oceanside Hotel Vancouver.

Thanks for your help!

In order with Landis being a distant first choice. Landis, Riviera, Greenbrier. I don't know Oceanside and their web isn't descriptive. Landis is a former Marriott and has an indoor pool and good Davie Street location near the Granville Island ferries, inexpensive restaurants and beaches.Riviera and Greenbrier are closer to Stanley Park and the many restaurants of Denman but not as nice in appearance or amenities. Oceanside has price and location going for it but the lack of proudly displayed photos and low price is scary.

I just learned something. It does not change the recommendation for Landis well above the rest but Oceanside could change the order of preference of the others...kinda like discovering a special 2 star in a great location for a good price in Paris. Free parking? Good reviews? Cheap rates? Could be worth investigating.

I remember a thread mentioning Oceanside for fireworks time. Can't remember which year. Can't find it in a search, but I remember their take was thin walls, hot but had fans, great location and worked fine, had stayed more than once.

TT's time in BC is mid-July for 14 nights, the last 4 nights in Van. Fireworks nights are July 27, 31 and Aug 3rd. I'm thinking Oceanside, Davie and Denman, fireworks, 100,000 people right there after the fireworks and young children may or may not be a good mix. Not a problem if the family is going to walk over to the fireworks too.

Hi, thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I will go with Landis. MuftiMix we are in Vancouver Jul 11-25. Don't know about the fireworks but looks like we will miss it.

The Landis is in a good location. You've got buses on Davie, Burrard and Granville. Only about 5 blocks to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre and the Granville Island ferry across to Granville Island. And yes, you will miss fireworks nights.

I hope you will consider posting a Trip Report on the forum when you get home. It would be great to have one with a family-with-young-ones focus for our collection. People are often asking us what is there to do with children.
