Vancouver for (American) Thanksgiving - 3 or 4 days?

Hi, we're planning our first time visit to Vancouver for this year's Thanksgiving, end of November.

Taking into account the weather and limitations on what we can do, how many days do you think would be sufficient to visit Vancouver? 3-days/2-nights or 4-days/3-nights?

We love to eat and don't mind a bit of adventuring as well.

Thanks much!

Hi rprawira ~

Depending on what you end up choosing to put on your agenda, you could do 4 nights, 3 full days. You'll need a day or two to see things on the Vancouver side of the harbour, a day to see the things on the North Vancouver side of the harbour. You might want one full day to drive up to Whistler and back. You might even want 2 more days to get over to Victoria (4 hours journey each way) for 1 night.

Remember to pack clothes so you can dress in layers, gloves, scarf, toque. The temps here in November run between high 9C and low 3C. November gets about 19 days with rain and the month averages about 150 mm of rain. About 6 inches. So a good rainproof jacket with hood and decent shoes would be a good idea. You can expect cool, wet, grey overcast skies and perhaps some wind.

Have a look at the Things to Do in the green menu bar across the top of the full website version, and browse the Top Questions to the right of the page for information about popular topics.

Turkey dinner can be had at hotels for the most part, although there are a few places that "highlight" American Thanksgiving. I'll see if I can find that previous thread.

Yes, here it is from last year: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g154943-i81-k59073…

Do you do, or are you interested in any snow sports. That weekend is usually the weekend everything opens up in the mountains, so you could spend a day trying snowshoeing or skiing. We have three mountains here in Vancouver and then Whistler is just a day trip, although that's also worth an overnight.

3/2....November is really wet and dark...one of the worst months to visit. The most you will get in regards to US Thanksgiving is the triple header NFL games
