The Cascades train is a GREAT way to go from Seattle to Vancouver! There are many different sights to see (Water, and Mountains) and best of all its is only about $35 a person One Way. There is also a shuttle on a bus called the Quick shuttle (About $40 a person One Way.)

But Driving is also a great way! I do It all the time!

Have fun on your trip.

sort of depends if your staying in Vancouver proper. If you are a car is really unnecessary. It also depends on when your traveling. The train is much much more scenic than the highway.

Bolt Bus from Vancouver to Seattle is about half the cost of Quick Coach for the same service but as has been mentioned the train is a prettier trip and no customs delays.

We just got back yesterday from a Seattle-Vancouver vacation and took the train. It was quite easy, about 4 hours. Ask for seats on left for trip to Vancouver and you will see great scenary. Very relaxing. Only downside is return trip is early in morning (640AM departure). I bought my tickets online to save time and avoid having to deal with "how do i buy tickets at the station". Recommend the train!

Thank you Oceanside! Did you feel as if you needed a car while in Vancouver? That is the only reason I wouldn't take the train because if I need to rent a car it doesn't make sense.

You really don't need a car but you have to enjoy walking. If you get a centrally located hotel you can walk to just about anywhere. It would only make sense to have a car if you want to do tours outside the city but want to do it on your own rather than on an escorted tour bus. We took a guided motorized rafting trip with Seewell's and they arranged to pick us up at our hotel. Enjoy!
