Getting from hotel to hockey match

We've just bought tickets to a Vacouver Giants match at 8pm on the 4th Feb when we'll be in Vancouver - yay! :) Just wondering though, how the best way would be to get to the Pacific Colosseum from our hotel, the Executive Hotel Vintage Park??

Catch a bus on Granville St.

Trip Planner software can be a tad balky but the info you need is there.

Departing northbound Granville @ Davie:

at 6:57. # 16 "29th Ave Station" bus. 26 min to eastbound Hastings @ Renfrew. Walk north on Renfrew 5 min to Pacific Colisseum. $2.75 fare.

at 7:07. #14 "Hastings" bus. 27 min.

Both these buses go through 4-5 blocks of the Downtown Eastside very low income neighbourhood on Hastings, either side of Main St. Nothing to be concerned about, but I think it's fair to tell you about it. It will be a Tuesday and does not coincide with Social Benefits cheque cashing day which can lead to some uninhibited behaviour down there.

A taxi would cost about $20 + tip. They take credit cards.

Nah, not really. You'd have better choice around your hotel.

There is a casino and its pub style restaurant on the grounds next door. There is a hotel pub (Press Box?) a block west. There are a few family run ethnic restaurants very near by. By the way, a taxi from the hotel is about $25.

If you are looking for a good pub located on Granville Street, I would suggest going to the Morissey. If you are looking to enjoy a bottle of wine and maybe some small plates, try Twisted Fork. The bus instructions look good to me. Just remember it's exact change only;)

There are places to eat around there. A little bit of everything. There's the Red Wagon Cafe though it's mostly known for breakfast and The Comissary which is run by the same people as Taco Fino. Lots of sushi and Vietnamese with a few Chinese places. Two western style restaurants plus a Indian spot.
