Edmonton to Vancouver and return in 2 weeks

Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to travel from Edmonton to Vancouver and back in 2 weeks. We would also like to see banff, jasper and lake Louise if possible

Is this doable or should we miss out Vancouver and just do the Rockies

Thanks

It's possible to travel from Edmonton to Vancouver in one day as we do it all the time. I think what you're asking is can you do a trip that includes Vancouver and the Rockies in 2 weeks...and yes it's possible but you would probably feel rushed...much better to do a one way trip.

Start by reading the top questions on the right of the British Columbia forum.( one level back on TA) there's a very good article about the various routes from Vancouver to Banff..which also includes Jasper. I'd also question flying into Edmonton rather than Calgary. Edmonton is a 4 hour drive from Jasper and the Rockies.. Calgary is a 1.5 hour drive from Banff..and the Rockies.

You might look at a one way rental with Canadian Affair if you're coming from the Uk or down under.. sorry but have no idea where widnes is located. Giving more of a location for yourself makes it easier for us to give advice as we will be aware that you may drive on different side of the road etc....

Quite doable, if you are comfortable with some long drives. As T47 says, it would be a little rushed and, depending on your travel style, you might be happier with an itinerary that sticks with Alberta and just a bit of eastern BC, but doesn't take you all the way to the coast. If you allow for 3 full days in both Jasper and Banff, you can see that's half your time right there. Doesn't leave much time to enjoy the trip to the coast and still have a few days in Vancouver.

The Pacific Northwest is another trip entirely, with time in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island and perhaps some time in Seattle and on the Olympic Peninsula. Easily fill two weeks right there.

There are about 4 threads spread over several forums asking about this trip with a number of helpful replies on each thread. I believe it is for late August, 3 weeks (maybe the 3rd week with family in Edmonton), with family commitments in Edmonton. I believe the trip needs to return to Edmonton.

Widnes, it would be very helpful if you could develop a provisional itinerary for your trip across the province and back to Edmonton. Lay out what you think would work for you and then get feedback here for your ideas. Don't start a new thread though. It would be fine to add the itinerary to this thread.

Google Maps has a get direction feature which is very helpful for plotting stops along the way. The feature gives you driving distances and times to help keep the driving legs reasonable.
