4 days in Vancouver with teenagers

Hi, we will be in Vancouver for 4 days this summer. On our list at the moment is a whale watching trip, float plane trip, grouse mountain, suspension bridge and park wander. we also want to catch the bard on the beach if possible. any other suggestions? Is the whale watching doable from Vancouver? thanks everyone for your help.

Welcome to the forum, Wringworthy ~

Greenheart Canopy Walkway at UBC Botanical Gardens ..... www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/canopy-walkway

Steveston village and perhaps Gulf of Georgia Cannery Museum ..... www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/bc/georgia/index.aspx

Steveston is 45 min south of Vancouver and where most of our whale watching tours depart from. These tours are a 6 -6.5 hour affair. Orcas are found off the waters of Victoria which is a couple of hours by boat. The companies have complimentary shuttles for Van hotel pickups.

I think your family might enjoy one of the walking tours offered by The Tour Guys who are paid by gratuities. Have a look in the green menu bar where you will see a tab called Things to Do.

Since you want to include a seaplane flight ,why not fly 30 minutes from Vancouver to Victoria. They will go from harbor to harbor and you can take a whale watching trip from there and save yourselves a long trip to the whale watching areas from Vancouver.

Take an early flight and you will have enough time to see Victoria for the last half of the day and perhaps Butchart gardens as well. The last flight back leaves Victoria around 8 or 9 pm. in the summer, as it is visual flight rules for seaplanes. Or in the evening you can take a coach back to Vancouver via B.C Ferries, which drives right on to the ferry and takes you to downtown Vancouver.

Bard on the Beach may be a little disappointing. We've gotten much, much better at our interpretations of Shakespeare, but its not RSC. But I still go most years and its a good night out; some shows are notably better than others (Taming of the Shrew as a spaghetti western will take some beating). The setting in the park is fun.

The HR. MacMillan Space Centre is good with teenagers, and Theatre Sports is another fun night out with underage kids.

Rent bikes and ride around Stanley Park.
