what to do for 2 days in March

We (senior couple) will be arriving in Vancouver by Amtrak in mid March for our first visit there. Will the weather be good enough for us to see Stanley Park? Can we ride the train, trolley or carriages or the water taxi to Granville Island? Thank you for any help.

Hi deex9 and welcome to the forum ~

Yes, everything will be open. Not necessarily the same long hours as in summer though. As for the weather? Who knows. March is typically raining, cool and often windy. You would be best to dress in layers, with a rainproof jacket with hood and solid shoes, long pants. Dress in layers so that you can put on and take off clothes as you become either warmer or cooler.

The train? Which train do you mean. We have light rain skytrains here for public transit but the Rocky Mountaineer train to Whistler will not be operating in March. The HOHO trolleys will actually be a good activity to do in March without the summer crowds. The Vancouver Trolley might be one you could consider. I'm not sure what you mean by carriages. And the water taxis to Granville Island will be operating as usual.

You will have no problem getting around on public transit or walking if the weather cooperates.

I'd definitely look in the green menu bar across the top in the Things to Do section. I think you would find quite a few more things to do and see that would appeal to you in 2 full days in Vancouver.

Feel free to ask more questions about anything you see there.

We just got back from Vancouver and did a long walk in Stanley Park and took the water taxi to and from Granville Island. Just bring some layers.

In March its a good idea to have two plans - wet weather and dry weather. Rain here is usually pretty drizzly and tolerable if you have a good coat and warm, dry feet. Its rare that we get a good storm with heavy rain and wind, but it does happen from time to time.

Here's a list of museum options for poor weather:

If you get pleasant weather, then Stanley Park and Granville Island are a good idea. Carriage rides start mid-March
