GPS-where to buy

We will reach Vancouver International airport on 7th September at 19.25 hrs.

We will stay the night at Holiday Inn Express at Richmond and plan to pick up the rental car from Hertz at the airport next morning at 9am.

Please advise where we can buy a Garmin/other GPS with maps of Canada and USA preloaded. Is there any store at the airport or close by the hotel?

We will be leaving the next morning for Nanaimo via ferry from horshoe bay.

http://www.futureshop.ca/ has a Richmond branch close to your hotel and one at Park Royal Mall on your way to Horseshoe Bay. Nanaimo too. Another alternative is to down load your smart phone with a GPS based mapping system like "Maps.Me3.1.1.". Turn data off.

cheaper to download paid (such as TomTom) or free (NavFree) GPS apps onto your smartphone, and no data required after the initial download which you can do at home.

GPS are on sale all the time at a store called Canadian Tire. …canadiantire.ca/Canadiantire/Entry/Index… it will ask for postal code use V6X 2C1

for future shop this is the flyer …flyerservices.com/cached_banner_pages/…

if you want to use your phone you should/need to buy a holder for the phone; the GPS comes complete with suction cup holder for the windshield.

If you get one with life time maps upgrades you should see if it also applies to updating maps for other countries..

the other thing that you can do is to look at what is available where you are and go online and buy north American maps to upload to the device. The low price range for GPS here is around $99.00 CDN

Check with Hertz to see if you can add GPS to your car rental.
