Sydney worth a passing visit?

Sydney worth a passing visit?

We will be arriving on Vancouver Island 14th May at the ferry terminal at Swartz Bay. We are travelling in a 24 ft RV and was wondering if on our way to Victoria, just after leaving the ferry would a stop in Sydney be worth it.

We have read somewhere in all the things we have been checking, cant find it now, that there is a nice waterfront area of quaint house's and shops for a relaxing hour or so.

If someone can confirm this the next question is parking for a 24ft RV..anywhere?

So looking forward to our arrival in Canada and forthcoming trip.

Lots of street parking in/around downtown Sidney and Yes it's a lovely town with some great restaurants, a charming waterfront and better yet a street market every Thursday IIRC.

If you have some time, yes, its worth a stop and a stroll, perhaps lunch or an ice cream cone.

And the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, a new aquarium. Their newest exhibit is called Sex in the Salish Sea, a family friendly exhibit. Tantalizing!

There are a few public parking lots that you should fit into. Mostly on Bevan Ave and one near the marina at the end of the main drag. There's also the Safeway parking lot on Beacon Ave that you could park in for a couple of hours.

Thanks all,

Looks like Sydney will be our first stop for a coffee and to stock our RV up at Safeways, and a walk around the waterfront and shops.

Back to the planning of next stage.

Sidney also has lots of used book stores - something we actively seek out when on the road!

You'll find better quality, more organic (and more expensive!) food on Vancouver Island at Thrifty's.
