Butchart gardens

Planning to spend a Saturday in August in Vancouver.

Is it possible to watch the fireworks in BUTCAHRT gardens and reurn to downtown hotel in Vancouver via ferry.I understand fireworks start at 9 p.m.Is there enough time to catch the ferry after the fireworks?

I just checked www.bcferries.com and the last ferry leaves Swartz Bay (Victoria) for Tsawwassen (Vancouver) at 10pm so unfortunately you wouldn't have time. Even if you had reservations for the ferry, you need to be there 30 or 45 minutes early...and without reservations you aren't guaranteed to get on.

The fireworks are awesome, but the gardens are great without them. However, if you are driving over here, it is quite expensive if you are coming just for the day, and just to see the gardens. One person plus a car is about $60 EACH WAY.

Is there any way that you could spend a night over here on the island?

Hope that you can work it out! If not, come back again to see the gardens and spend some time on Vancouver Island!!

Have a great trip!!

Can't help you with the fireworks, but there are some lovely gardens in Vancouver too. Van Deusen is pretty spectacular and worth a visit. Not sure that Buchart is SOO much better that it's worth the ferry fare, the time and the rather pricy entrance fee.

yeah, c'mon over here for a couple of fun days!

but if you don't, check on the Vancouver forum to see whether there will be a fireworks competition show the day that you will be there.

Although Butchart Gardens has spectacular fireworks, if that's all you want to see in Victoria, it may not be worth the extra cost of hotel for a night. What I would recommend is to try and time your visit to Vancouver around one of the Celebration of Light firework shows and then make a day trip to Victoria to see the Gardens. Don't forget to have Afternoon Tea there!
