Swan Lake is in Saanich, if you walk down the galloping Goose you are able to catch a bus to nearly everywhere depends on where you want to go, to Victoria you just walk to the town and country shopping centre (under renovation)_ 5 min.

the bus to downtown is on Blanshard on the Swan Lake side. 7 min to downtown. you can also rent bikes close by and ride it al the way on the trail to downtown, Ferries, Sidney and Sooke.

Have a great trip.

Swan Lake is a beautiful area not just to live in but also to walk around the lake. It is a bird sanctuary. It is a 5 minute bus ride to Saanich Plaza via #26 which will accomodate all of your shopping needs. Alternatively, if you wanted to head to downtown, it would likely be about 15-20 minutes by bus as you would have to make a change at Town & Country Shopping centre. I would not suggest going to Town & Country as there is really nothing there anymore except a Walmart. Depending which side of Swan Lake you're on, you could also take the #6 bus which would take you downtown in about 15 minutes. But yes, you could certainly do it without a car and the buses run frequently. Just go to www.bctransit.com for more information. The bus #'s that travel in the vicinity are #26,30,6,70
