hiking/walking

We will be in Victoria for a couple of days in August. Would like to know if there are any short hikes (from maybe 1 to 3 miles long) near Victoria. We would prefer that they be within an hours drive from Victoria. Thanks for any help you can give me.

You might feast your eyes on the choices from this website. The Galloping Goose is a old railway bed and a popular route.

The Capital Regional District has a terrific parks system:

They have a number of hiking parks listed if you click on "Find a Park by Activity". The other one I can recommend is Goldstream Provincial Park:

Accessible by public transit [www.bctransit.com] you can do a circuit of Elk/Beaver Lakes, or only one side, through second growth forest.Easy access from downtown, clear trails throughout.
