Great upscale hotel, good location about 15 miles/25km from airport. There are lots of restaurant choices, most with menus outside to browse.

Here's the route map from the airport to the hotel.

You can take AKAL Shuttle http://www.victoriaairportshuttle.com/

A taxi would cost about $80.

The Inn at Laurel Point is in James Bay - a lovely area of Victoria - a mixture of hotels and residential. We like to stay in the James Bay area because it is quieter than right downtown. There is a lovely walk along the water which you can access just below the hotel. Your hotel is about 10 - 12 minutes from the edge of the downtown area - another nice walk along the Inner Harbour where there is often a lot going on (buskers, handicraft sellers, etc.)

On restaurant costs, Victoria is like any city - costs vary. Here is a recent thread that may be of interest to you -

Beautiful hotel, just a short jaunt around the corner from our Worldmark resort. You'll find a wide variety of excellent restaurants covering all price ranges in Victoria. It's one of our favorite cities -- we're making our 32nd visit in December.

Brunch on the first Sunday of each month at Laurel Point is an Event ... see www.laurelpoint.com/dining/sundays_at_aura/ ... $35 adults, $17 children 6 - 10 years and 25% off for seniors and worth it.

Enjoy your stay!

The easiest, best way to get from the airport to your hotel is definitely with AKAL Airporter. They leave every half hour from the airport. When you are ready to head home, just call them in advance to arrange pickup from your hotel. The cost is $21/per person each way, or less for groups.

The Inn At Laurel Point is great - I deal with them all the time in my line of work. Enjoy your stay.
