What to do???? The Gardens, even with fireworks don't seem worth the $$$ and most of the ship excursions include either the gardens or the castle.

There's more than enough to do downtown, I wouldn't waste your time and energy getting out to Brentwood Bay and back for the short time you'll be in Victoria. Hit the Royal BC Museum, take in a show at the IMAX; wander up Government street, go to Japanese Village for dinner - they will give you an entertaining show and the food is good. By then you'll be ready to go back to the ship.

Good ideas - Thanks.

I think by this time we'll be toured out and ready for just roaming Government Street & waterfront area.

the IMAX at the museum is really neat. You can go to IMAX without visiting the museum, we do it all the time. Lots of shops to poke in on Government St. Take pics of the Legislative building when it gets dark and they light it up. The lower caseway of the Inner Harbour usually has free entertainment/buskers.

I just got back last night from a Victoria vacation plus stopped there on a cruise a couple of years ago. I agree with other posts--there's really not enough time to enjoy Butchart Gardens while on a short cruise stop. They are lovely though! When you get off of the ship you'll see all sorts of tour operators and cars for hire. On our cruise stop, we hired a driver to take us on a mini tour of the downtown area and then drop us downtown for dinner. It was great--he took us to the castle as well as to the Lt. Governor's mansion where we roamed around the spectacular gardens (a mini Butchart, if you will). Milestones Restaurant (in the inner harbor right under the Visitors' Center) has outdoor seating and a nice view. Nautical Nellie's has great food as well. Your teens may enjoy a walk through China Town--it's small but has some fun shops.
