Jazz Clubs in Victoria

We are going to Victoria this weekend and would like to go to a good Jazz Club. We are staying at the Fairmount Empress and I read that the Bengal Lounge has Live Jazz...Is that any good? Are there any other good ones in walking distance from our hotel??

Thanks!

When you get in town, pick up a copy of a local free publication called "Monday Magazine". You can find it in free yellow wooden boxes around town. Ocassionally there are special events and artists in town--usually its a bit more frequent in the summer. What I'd consider to be the one most reliable jazz club is called Hermann's. Their website is: http://www.hermannsjazz.com/

From where you're staying its a 10-12 minute walk.

I havent' gone to the Bengal Lounge at all.

What he said -- plus re Monday Magazine see http://web.bcnewsgroup.com/portals/monday/ where under Entertainment there is a Calendar.

The Bengal Lounge is part of the Fairmont Empress, and can be expected to play the kind of music you'd expect in a large chain hotel. And to charge what you'd expect for drinks. It is a VERY nice room, though - recreating the look and feel of the British Raj.
