beginner's rock climbing

My 8 year old daughter has a real affinity for rock climbing on artificial climbing walls and is, I think, ready to try out the real thing. Can anyone point me towards a good resource to introduce her to basic rockclimbing in the Whistler, Squamish, or (even better) Vancouver area?

You may find something suitable with this rock climbing company in Squamish. There seems to be a beginners and a family offering. You would have to see if climbers need to be 19 yr and older. Possibly legal/waiver reasons, I don't know.

Here is a great indoor place, well suited for kids, in North Vancouver.

You should checkout The Core in Whistler. They offer both indoor and outdoor beginner climbs for children and adults.

They also have a program, which may be of interest, where the kids do a supervised indoor climb while the parents can have dinner on their own.

I don't rock climb myself, but I do know that Squamish is a major climbing destination. The main attraction is to climb the Stawamus Chief, but I have seen climbers on other rock faces in the area that are obviously much simpler.

Here's what tourism BC has to offer on the subject:

you have the best answers above

squamishrockclimbingguides is great, although probably more aimed at older/more experienced climbers (they do beginner and intro to climbing too, but most of there instructors would prefer to do 'real' climbing

the Core in whistler has lots of experience with teaching kids about climbing, and would be my first choice. They employ lots of 'seasonals' but the people doing the courses know their stuff (and are generally not the seasonals unless they prove themselves)

Here's another company in the Whistler Area. They do take kids depending on the level of the tour, but all kids under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I called the Core, and they are working on determing when the "outdoor" season starts up there.
