2007 President's Week Rental

We are looking for a place for PResident's week next year for two families. Any suggestions of where to stay or where not stay? We have five kids so we need some convenience so they can come and go - either by walking or a bus or shuttle.

Are you thinking a hotel or a condo? What is your budget? Do you want "ski in ski out"? Do you want to be right in the action, or removed from the noise and nightlife? I know - a lot of questions! If you're thinking of a hotel, there are literally dozens of options right in the village. Check out the reviews on this page - click on "Hotels" at the top, and you can narrow things down by selecting a price range using the drop-down menu.

The other popular option is renting a townhouse or condo direct from the owners, which may make sense for such a large group.

Here's a few websites to get you started.

tourismwhistler.com/www/…hotels.asp

ownerdirect.com/accommodations/…whistler.htm

Once you have it narrowed down to a few choices, you could come back to this forum and get some feedback. Good Luck!

I would strongly recommend a condo. There are many properties where your family would be happy. There will be many US families at Whistler during the President's week vacation.

Narrow down further by:

-do you want slopeside or just ski "home" or doesn't matter, walking/bus to the slopes is fine

-do you want to be close to the ski school drop-off?

-price point

-# of bedrooms

-swimming pool, game room other ammenities

Renting direct from an owner means you don't have to pay the 10% tax which is charged by hotels and resort managerment companies. You may want to rent 2 condos, one for each family, rather than one larger place. Another popular owner-direct website is www.alluradirect.com.

Village North is a good location if some in your group don't want to ski - there re free shuttle buses to the lifts, and shopping, restaurants, etc., are in walking distance.

Keep in mind that Presidents Week is prime time in Whistler - everything tends to be a little more expensive.

There is a great special at www.whistleraccommodation.com where you can get 7 nights for the price of 5, lift tickets 7 for 5, and ski rentals 7 for 5. Hard to beat that!
