Highway 6 South, Manitoba

Travelling from Wekusko Lake on Highway 6 south to Winnipeg during the summer. Are there any hotels/motels that are halfway? What condition is this road for a smll SUV?

Highway 6 is a paved two-lane highway the whole way. There shouldn't be any problem for your vehicle other than making sure you have plenty of fuel. There isn't much along the way for refuelling or dining, let alone staying overnight. It's only about a 7-8 hour drive to Winnipeg, so if you get off to a relatively early start, you shouldn't need a hotel.

You will have no trouble with a small SUV. There are stops along the way for fuel, Ashern is about 2 hours out of Winnipeg, decent hotel(s), next is Grand Rapids, 2.5 hours north of Ashern- this is about the halfway point, couple gas stations and a couple hotels-not sure about quality. There is also North Cross Bay on Cedar Lake 5 miles north of Grand Rapids, Hobb's Resort has a few cabins there, check out their website.
