Exchange District dinner on a Thursday eve?

It's my b-day Thursday, and I'm planning to go for an early dinner before heading over to check out a friends art exhibit at the Folk Exchange on Bannatyne. I need recommendations for a great place to eat, ideally within walking distance. A patio would be a bonus since it's supposed to be nice out, but not a must have.

It doesn't have to be fancy schmancy, as long as it's got good food and good service, but places like the Pita Pit are definitely out. I read a few reviews here already. Tre Visi sounds nice but no mention of prices. Qui Bistro sounds a bit over the top for what I'm after. Also, let me know if you think I'll need reservations - there will be 4 of us, hoping to dine around 6 - 6:30pm.

Your suggestions will be much appreciated!

I was going to recommend Tre Visi before seeing you mentioned it. It's my favourite restaurant in the Exchnage. The prices are not astronomical but I wouldn't send you there if you wanted to be thrifty... Going by memory I think a pasta entree is about $15-20, a "meal" entree about $18 - 30. Salads are not included but I think are about $6 or so. The bread you get with your meal is very yummy! No patio there though. And yes, you'll probably want to make a reservation... it's a very small place. Very nice for an intimate dinner; but not so great if you plan to get rowdy!

I will think of some other suggestions & post more later today.

(PS happy birthday!)

Thanks!

We did end up going to Tre Visi, and it was perfect. As you said, it is a smaller place, which provides a much more intimate ambiance. The food was amazing, the service was great (the waiter even showed me how to evaluate the wine because I didn't know how), and the prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food you're getting. mmmm, it was so delicious! I think that for the 4 of us to eat, including a shared starter and nice bottle of wine, it was around $140 (plus tip). I don't think that's too bad for a special occaision. We will definitely be going back again - we plan on trying every dish on the menu.
