Excursion recommendation

Planning a multi-generation girls trip cruise - We'll be in port in early October and would like some recommendations about excursions. Our ages are between 50-75, active and not so active. I'd like to avoid the bus tours with all of the cruise passengers. Maybe something in a small group. Would like to make this a special day and to take in as much as we can. Any specific recommendations for tours, guides, itineraries, etc would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are plenty of charming little shops, art galleries, churches, Imperial Theatre and little museums (like the Barbour General Store and Jewish Museum) that are free (or donation) many have volunteers offering mini tours/history. The tourist bureau has a history walk pamphlets that lead you to many heritage buildings. The boat docks right in the city, no need to book any tours just walk around and enjoy the architecture, city market, king/queens square. It's all pretty close to the port although it's pretty hilly. Plenty of places for relaxing/resting around town.
