It depends on what they like to do? You can take them walking, there are some great trails. The museum is a great place to go. And the beach by the airport is always a nice spot.

Hi there!

July is an amazing time in Yellowknife. With the midnight sun there is certainly a renewed energy in the city.

A few things I would recommend are:

- Folk on the Rocks Music Festival (typically mid-July for a full weekend)

- Rent a pontoon boat on Prelude Lake (you can fish, bbq or just sunbathe and enjoy the view)

- Have a picnic on the grassy area in front of City Hall - it was recently redone and now there is a beautiful statue overlooking Frame Lake. There is also the Garden of Hope in that are and the Fireweed Studio (open Saturdays only) with local arts and crafts

- Spend a few nights camping. There are campgrounds all along Ingraham Trail and Fred Henne Campground across from the airport and just a short walk from the beach. You can even book your campground online:

- Explore Old Town: there are tons of galleries, cafes, B&Bs and little shops for some cool souvenirs. You can also climb "the rock" and stand at Pilot's Monument for an awesome view of downtown Yellowknife, Back Bay and Yellowknife Bay. You can see the brightly coloured houseboats and watch float planes take off and land.

Hope this helps! If you need more information, check out:

The Prince of Whales Northern Heritage Centre is a great place to take young children. You could also drive out toward Rae to watch for Buffalo.

If you go to yktrader.com, they have a community events section that has listings of upcoming events.

I agree with the previous poster that there is lots to see in Old Town.

Have a great trip!
