Wolfeville and 3 Sisters in one day? (Sun to Sun total trip)

Im thinking for the Bay of Fundy and winecountry, these seem to be the best 2 places.

Maybe 2 half days, as we will be arriving at yhz around 9pm Sun nite and go straight to the above.

I dont mind 2 nites in a nice b&b there then move the rental car towards the north after that to make Sidney a base to do Cabot trail/Louisberg 2 1/2 days.

Or go another direction 2 1/2 days.

Fri and Sat nite are already booked in Halifax as we are leaving Sun morning.

Saw a Lighthouse and Caboose b&b, But I just dont know if its all fluff.

Is that Brier Island the best place for whale watching? And are we guaranteed to see whales like we were in Victoria, BC?

Its a vacation so Im not looking to replicate my job driving a big brown truck. But we will move a little.

Thanks for all the kindness.

Sorry for the blind 1st post. Looks like the advocate harbor is the place from where we can get to 3 sisters.

A hike from the airport at 9 at nite, but I think this is a good start for the trip.

Should I consider the cape d'or? Or what else is close by that is comprable?

Thanks, Allan.

Hi sab, yes Advocate Harbour is the host community for going to the Three Sisters, plus the hiking at Cape Chignecto Park, which is some of the best in Canada if you are into wilderness hikes. Plus at Cape Chignecto a incredible new day use park is just opening. The views from the escarpments here are awe inspiring. They include the Three Sisters. Add in the walks on the Driftwood Beach or Horseshoe Cove or Spicers Cove, all within minutes of Advocate and you will be wonderfully "busy" enjoying some of the best of the natural beauty in Nova Scotia.

Cape d'Or is also hosted by Adocate Harbour, a unique destiantion in itself. Here you have three tidal currents converging to put on a show with the Dory Rips you can only find here or after the hike into Cape Split.

Other things to do around Advocate Harbour include sea kayaking, para gliding, fossil hunting, rock hounding or just exploring and relaxing in one of the least touristy and undiscovered areas of the province. Fantastic food at the Wild Caraway, Cape d'Or or the Beach Cafe. For accomodations check out the ones at tripadvisor under Advocate Harbour or go to www.bayoffundytourism.com where you can go to "things to do" or places to stay, scroll to the bottom of the listings to find Advocate Harbour.

And yes, Brier Island is by far the best place to see the big Baleen Whales. Cape Breton has whales, but largely the small toothed Pilot whales, which can be in large numbers. No comparison really.

The train accomodations would probably be the ones in Tatamagouche, and they are very real and a interesting place to stay.

sab

You are travelling to several locations that are at the various "ends" of the province, and you mention 2 days , then 2 1/2 days and then Fri and sat in Halifax. If you only have 4 days to go to Brier Island , Cape D'or , the Cabot Trail, Sydney and Louisburg, you have a very tight schedule and a fair amount of driving.

You may not be out of teh airport until after 10 pm depending on where you clear customs and how fast you get your rental.

Halifax is a 1/2 hour away, Wolfville about 40 mimutes.

If it was me, I would do Louisbourg first. Depending on your love of history, you might spend 1/2 a day there or the whole day. It is quite a lovely spot. Halifax to Louisbourg is a 5 hour drive. Take Highway #4 to get off the highways and see Bras d'Or Lake. From there you can travel up one side of the Cape Trail. You can side track going up and take route 312 to enjoy the Englishtown ferry.

From Louisbourg to Cheticamp (along the Cabot trail) is 4.5 hours but most people stop to hike and enjoy the trail. The scenery is spectacular.

Take time in Cheticamp to watch the wind surfers while having lunch or supper.

From there, take the road that travels down the western side of Cape Breton through Margaree Harbour, Inverness, Mabou, Port Hood and the back to Port Hawkesbury.

From there you can travel down to towards Wolfeville to see the tides. If you continue down towards Middleton you can cross the province to Bridgewater and come back up the other coast. This will take you through Lunenburg and Chester and while you are on that side you can drop in to see the famous lighthouse at Peggy's Cove.
