Ferry to PEI from NS

HI all and sorry if this is an worn-out question but... I have been on the Northumberland ferry website but it doesn't seem to give decent directions to find the ferry in Caribou. I know it is near Pictou but exactly how do we find the ferry terminal?

Secondly, we are planning on taking the ferry from NS to PEI on the first Saturday in August, not sure what time yet as we will be leaving in the AM from Mabou, CB, maybe lunchtime to arrive at Caribou? Do we need reservations for the ferry? Again, the website didn't mention whether you needed them or not and gave two different numbers to call to make reservations so unless I am just tired, I am confused! Thanks for your help as always

hi

this is the road on google maps - drag the yellow guy (left side) over to see the road before you drive it. and there is a 3D button that will fly over the route.

There are lots of signage to get you there.

Coming from CapeBreton Exit 22 is the one to take

http://goo.gl/maps/tFOF this is at start of route

http://goo.gl/maps/s19c this is the map of the route across to Wood Island.

this is the online reservation site:

Hi,

We are doing something very similar but in October and leaving Grand Etang on a Sunday morning to head to the ferry over to PEI. I have called the ferry people a couple of times and was told they only take reservations if you are doing a round trip on the ferry. We are taking the ferry to the island and leaving the island via the Confederaton Bridge and so no reservation, first come, first serve and that we will pay when we take the bridge over to New Brunswick. I believe I was told to be there at least 30 to 45 minutes prior to the ferry departure time with it being October and not the summer. I will agree that the ferry website was kind of confusing on some things, like whether or not you need a reservation.
