Personal info on Nova Scotia

Arriving Fredericton, N.B. July 21 leaving Halifax 8 days later. Would like any personal tips, Such as best way to take a leisurely trip around Nova Scotia and arriving in Halifax 2 or 3 days before our departure. Plan on staying at Dalhousie University in Halifax. advice on out of the ordinary thing to see, eat, stay and do. Also favorite college type pub close to Dalhousie U. Some place close enough to walk. Have plenty of travel guides for this area, but would rather have some personal tidbits. Two old backpackers.

Thanks Bedlace, I have indeed read through the Halifax thread. Found some good info. Also found a Weblog for Amie's wedding which listed Mount Saint Vincent U., Saint Mary's U. and Dalhousie U's websites for accomodations. We will stay at one of these for 3 nights just before we regretfully return to Oklahoma and 40 degree C. weather. Which would be your selection? The prices appear to be very similar and they seem to be good bargains. Does one have a better location than the others? Which has campus corner type pubs within walking distance? . Special thanx to Pilgrim73 and the good fortune of of knowing about trip advisor. Two old backpackers

St. Mary's and Dal are right downtown (next door to each other), the Mount is a little farther out. So for pubs, etc. stay downtown. But it really depends on where the wedding will be.
