Eating on the road and in Judique

I will be flying into Halifax late at night in August and renting a car the next morning to drive to Judique on CBI. I was wondering if there's a restaurant that's worth a stop along the way to and from (I'm thinking going the northeastern route to CBI, and the southern coast route back to Halifax).

Also, I'll be staying with a friend in Judique for several nights and I'd like to take her and her husband to a nice dinner one night. So far I'm coming up completely blank on local restaurants, both on TA and in a general Internet search. Is there some place nice there, or in a nearby town, that anyone can recommend?

You are staying in a lovely area but there are not many places for fine dining.

Here is a map with restaurants: http://goo.gl/maps/hlGiJ

None of them is right in Judique.

You could look at the Clove Hitch in Port Hood: tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g499235-d33…

For dining in a lovely setting you could consider the Inn at Glenora. The reviews are mixed with the pub meeting with more favour. http://www.glenoradistillery.com/dining.htm

There is also the famous Red Shoe Pub in Mabou which has live music most evenings: http://www.redshoepub.com/

Thanks, Maryann, for such a detailed response. I hope they'll let me take them someplace nice!

Anyone have any thoughts on eating on the way to/from CBI?

Look at the listings for Pictou and Antigonish. Or if you are near Truro our favorite there is Bistro 22. we have eaten at Gabrieaus in Antigonish and always enjoyed it.
