CBI Cabin/Cottage advice needed- thx!

I have a plan for our June 11 trip to CBI.

What I cant decide on is our home base on the Cabot Trail.

Ive done lots of reading and have a few ideas, but I would appreciate if folks could give suggestions for a great centrally located place along the trail to call home for 2 or three nights while we do our touring. Our only real requirements are a view and a lobster pot to cook in. And something not too expensive.

We like to drive around, sight see, look in shops, eat..... we arent able to hike too much as she is inured right now. Thanks for any and all advice.

As a inlander , you want to be on the ocean, so the west side of cape breton is the general area for a 2-3 day base. Without knowing your number of days, whether you want whales or fiddle music , it's hard to zero in to help. How many days in NS and what is the general plan. You are early so some venues will not be open.

Thanks caperbeach- Im glad someone came in.

We are going to spend 3-4 days in the Cabot Trail area- maybe the last day of that will be towards glace bay/ Louisburg etc. In total, we have 10 days to see the Province.

We are going to be tourists- look in shops and museums, sightsee around the lookoffs and short hikes, explore some back roads, and EAT OUR FACES OFF! Lobsters are in serious trouble. Thats why we would like a "nice" place for the home base on the Trail overlooking the ocean with a kitchen to cook in. Nice as in under $150 a night.... Proximity to shops and restaurants is important.

Places like Cheticamp, Margaree and Pleasant Bay seem to make sense- but we could sure benefit from some "nice place" advice.

Many cottage places frown on lobster being cooked in them cause of the smells etc . So you may have to resort to buying cooked lobster. We have a lobster pound in Belle Cote on the beach road that sells you cooked lobster and you sit on their patio. You can get good lobster dinners at the All Aboard in Cheticamp and think in Pleasant bay. Lots of cottages in Margaree area and Cheticamp and you can really probably decide as you get here . Stop at the visitor center when you arrive on the Island. Allow 2 hours from the Causeway to Cheticamp, another 40 minutes to Pleasant Bay . MacIntosh Brook is a nice gentle hike as is THE BOG . Wave at Ocean Haven in Belle Cote when you drive by.

Considreing the time of year you are looking to travelling you should be able to get some of the best accomadations out there for your price range , july and august would be different , but june is still quiet .

As for lobsters , if you are in the cheticamp area , ask where you are staying if they dont have an outdoot cooker for lobster or crab , some do , if not check out the fish stop just before getting into town they sell cooked lobster by the pound .

For the closest proximety to everything in cheticamp i would recommend the cottages at ocean view , or pilot whale , both of these are just on the outskirts of town and seem very nice .
