Burton's Sunset Oasis

Greetings,

Is Burton's Sunset Oasis Motel worth $150 per night? I know it's the top Trip Advisor rated lodging in Cape Breton, but it looks to be on the order of a one-star motel room.

Thanks in advance.

Its all about location - there are places in Nova Scotia where the rooms are fairly standard fare compared to high end hotels or B&B's, but people love the location and thats what make it special for them, hence the rating. This place is in a fairly remote area, but with some great views from the nearby trails both there and in nearby Meat Cove. Isn't the rate still $100 per night?

Go there for the scenery, hiking, friendly people and photo opportunities with a stay in a clean, functional room and you will love it - go for a upper end accommodations and you will be disappointed.

Thanks for the reply. It is $100, but they tack on $25 for each kid.

It is all about location here . You are tucked away on the road to Meat Cove and to Bay St lawrence. It's that ocean view that sells a location like this so you pay a premium .There are places in Cape North that would be your closest option , but all of that depends on how many days you are staying there and why.

there are good cottages farther South by 1 1/2 hours in the Belle Cote, Margaree area where you have 4 beaches handy ,or farther North over by Neils Harbour and even Ingonish.

Now you could also try a neat B&B in Dingwall called the Inlet ;they might be able to "do a deal" as think they only have two rooms on the main house.
