Planning 3 nights in Cape Breton July 2013

I will be travelling with my sister and 86 year old Mum the 2nd week of July. We are planning on spending 3 nights in Cape Breton. I think we will drive counterclockwise. I would like to spend 2 nights in one hotel so we have a relaxed pace. I am thinking these 2 nights will be on the west coast and the last night possibly on the east coast.

My questions : Of course, suggestions of places to stay....

Any advice or recommendations of the Glenora Distilary Inn?

Is there any place close to the Red shoe Pub in Mabou to stay?

Ideally I would like to stay somewhere we could walk to dinner from.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations :)

So for your first night you could stay in Baddeck or Ingonish. It would depend upon where you are coming from. Then the next day finish going around the Cabot Trail to where you want to stay on the West Coast.

I have visited the Glenora Distillery and would love to stay there. It has a range of accommodations and the dining room looked good too. The reviews are mixed:

Here is the list of places to stay in the Mabou area: tripadvisor.ca/Hotels-g499218-Mabou_Cape_Bre…

This one is a five minute drive from Mabou: tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g499218-d1478235…

This one seems to be 10 minutes walking distance to the Red Shoe: tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g499218-d1158899…

Here is a map showing places to stay in Mabou. Zoom in and out for detail: http://goo.gl/maps/tDCQt

Another village to check out would be Cheticamp: http://www.cheticamphookedrugs.com/

One of my favorites is the Normaway inn in Margaree, great spot and excellent local food.

They have consistently great reviews on TA
