Do you mean to buy a hooked rug? There are many rug hookers around and from time to time there are sales. I think many hookers place their items in craft shops. You could check with the rug hooking guild: http://rhgns.com/

They may be able to help.

Of course Cheticamp is famous for its rug hooking. http://acadiancraftsandcuisine.com/en/

I was hoping to buy. The rugs I've seen on-line are pretty pricey so maybe I'll just be a "looker".

Yes they are not cheap! Thought you maybe interested in this on the South Shore. Cheticamp is well known as the" hooking capitol " as such and their prices do reflect that. Not sure about this group but you can always ask!!!!

Thanks Lulu. This place is south of Halifax and I'm not headed that far south on this trip. I was hoping to find a place where I could get a good deal on a rug but maybe that's not meant to be.

Not sure how you are travelling to CB if driving you may want to check out group in Pictou area and the Museum in New Glasgow.

Lulu,

I'm still undecided on which route to take but Pictou should be nearby regardless of whether I cross the ferry at Woods Island or drive in along the 104 from Amherst. Good article. Thanks for being such a great resource.
